Skincare They Will Love to Receive

Whether you are shopping for your mom, sister, wife, best friend or yourself (let’s be honest – it happens) this holiday season, I’m sharing the best skincare gifts for 2020. I prefer SkinCeuticals medical grade skincare when I am looking to get results on my clients’ or my own skin, so it only makes sense to gift these skincare secrets for the holidays this year.

The cool thing about buying gifts this time of year is that many retailers entice you to buy with additional gifts with purchase they give you for free. SkinCeuticals is no different. Be sure to check the banner at the top of their website for their current promotion. It’s like you get a bonus for buying someone else an awesome skincare gift. Keep it for yourself

Why Professional, Medical Grade Skincare?

What I love about SkinCeuticals is their unique approach to skincare and the in-depth research they provide for every product. They literally have white papers written on most, if not all of their products and even hold a few skincare patents. Needless to say, the products from SkinCeuticals can be trusted.

Before I list out the actual products, I wanted to go over what a skincare routine should look like so that mom/sister/wife/BF/yourself uses this awesome skincare appropriately. It absolutely pains me to hear when someone buys good skincare and doesn’t see results because they applied it incorrectly or in the wrong order.

My recommendations are listed below. I should mention that I may make commission from purchases that are made from links in this post. That being said, I have personally used these items before and handpicked them for this post.

MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

  1. Cleanse Skin
  2. Apply Toner (Optional)
  3. Apply Antioxidant Serum
  4. Apply Moisturizer
  5. Apply Sunscreen

While that may seem like a lot, there is a method to the madness. Cleansing removes sweat, oils and dust mites from sleeping. Get a good cleanser with clean ingredients that can be used morning and night.

Toner refreshes the skin and can act as a vehicle to get the following products deeper into the skin, but it’s not totally necessary when using professional products. After that comes the antioxidant. This is your skin’s version of taking its vitamins in the morning or drinking OJ for Vitamin C. These antioxidants will help your skin fight free radical damage and boost its natural sun protection. It’s good stuff.

Next, you must moisturize to hold that serum into the skin and protect your skin with a barrier that keeps bigger molecules out, like allergens and dust. Lots of women I know have a love-hate relationship with moisturizer. If she has oily skin, oil-free moisturizer is a good idea.

Finally, finish with an SPF of at least 30 to secure everything. This is like an insurance policy on your skin. It’s there to protect everything under it. Luckily, physical sunscreen acts as a shield and literally reflects the sun’s rays off of your skin. Pretty cool, right?

Now, for the evening routine. Your skin’s bedtime routine should do everything it can to restore, repair and rejuvenate the skin. Here is what it should look like:

BEDTIME SKINCARE ROUTINE

  1. Double Cleanse
  2. Tone
  3. Apply Night Serum/AHA or Retinol
  4. Apply Moisturizer if needed

Just like in the morning, you need to clean the junk off your face. Chances are, there’s a little makeup, a little sweat, a little pollution, maybe some food particles and other stuff on your face from doing what you do all day. Cleanse your skin, then cleanse it again. The first round will clean off the makeup and surface dirt. The second cleanse gets those top skin cells nice and clean so the following ingredients can penetrate.

Tone if necessary or if you feel like you have some extra gunk on your face. Then, apply a retinol if your worried about acne or aging. Word to the wise, use retinol every other night for the first week, then every night after that. Our skin has retinol receptors that need to be built up before going full steam. If retinol sounds too intense, a glycolic based serum will tighten and brighten your skin. Their Glycolic Renew Overnight is supposed to be amazing, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Finally, finish up with a moisturizer (if you feel like your skin needs it) to seal the deal. You can use the same moisturizer from the morning.

If you are looking for a rapid, quick fix for skin, ignore the above paragraph and just apply A.G.E. Interrupter after you cleanse at night. This product is so amazing. It’s one of those products that I tell people to take a “before” picture when they get it and and “after” picture when the jar is done. The results are cumulative, but still fast for skincare. It’s impressive.

And final finally, make sure you get some good quality sleep.

Professional Skincare Worth the Cost?

You may notice that the price on these items are a little higher than what you’d find at your local drugstore. There’s good reason. These products work and work QUICKLY. Drugstore brands typically need to have tons of buffers and fillers in them so they can appeal to the mass public without breaking them out – which means they have very little active ingredients in them. SkinCeuticals, on the other hand, is a professional skincare line that is aimed at delivering results with awesome active ingredients, no fillers.

It’s kind of like comparing an over-processed fast food cheeseburger to a high end filet mignon. Sure, they both can go in your body, but one is clearly better for you on a cellular level. Treat your skin (or your mom, sister, wife, best friend, etc.) to the filet mignon.

A lot of times, I get asked if I only had to recommend one or two professional products, what would they be. That’s tough question becuase I need to know the person’s skincare type and the skincare goal at hand. But, without a doubt, I know every single woman I know could use these two products during the day to help protect, brighten and rejuvenate their skin:

  1. CE Ferulic
  2. Physical Fusion SPF

The total for those two comes in right at $200, plus you’ll qualify for a free gift. Win-win!

And that wraps up my Best Skincare Gifts for Holiday 2020. Please leave any questions or comments below. I’d love to help fill your stockings with the right stuff!

Cheers!
Shannon
